Immigration advice training course

Do you need to understand the basics of immigration law? Do you deal with clients who are not UK nationals? If so, you may be interested in attending this upcoming ‘Introduction to Immigration Law’, arranged by Norfolk Community Law Service with support from NCAN. Please note that immigration law is a regulated area of advice, so organisations need to be regulated by the OISC, but some (such as Citizens Advice Bureaux) are exempted and therefore can give immigration advice. This training is intended to increase the amount of free immigration advice in Norfolk so we are pleased to be able to offer this at a subsidised rate for organisations who do not charge for advice. CPAG are running a new seminar in London on how to challenge unlawful practices & policies within local authority welfare schemes. The Government, as part of its welfare reforms, is placing greater emphasis on local support provided by local authorities. Yet there has been little direct case law or guidance for local authorities on how such schemes should be developed and operated.  As a result, some local authorities have adopted policies and practices that appear to be unlawful.  Often the only remedy for challenging such policies is by judicial review.  Read more

Me & You Education: Two Extremes Ideology Course
This free half day training course is organised by the Community Safety Partnership and it aims to educate professionals on preventing radicalisation. Following an escalation in serious violence around drug use, debts and dealing, Operation Gravity has been set up to disrupt the various drugs markets in Norfolk and surrounding areas and to reduce Class A drug dealing from out of county drug gangs. The briefing session will provide professionals information on Operation Gravity and how Norfolk can better equip itself to look after the vulnerable people who are affected by the organised crime gangs. There are new dates for 'Training for trainers in safeguarding adults awareness' - Wednesday 5th July 2017 at Cotman Housing Association, Norwich and Thursday 27th July 2017 at The Green Britain Centre, Swaffham. Healthwatch Norfolk (HWN) has received numerous enquiries in relation to the development and implementation of the Programme. The HWN Board are concerned that there has been no real opportunity for the general public to participate in the ongoing process. To that end, the Board came to a unanimous decision at its last meeting to host a “Question Time” type discussion on Monday 17th July between 6.00- 8.00pm at Blackfriars Hall in Norwich. Young Enterprise Practitioner Training

Young Enterprise provides financial education support to practitioners who work with children and young people and they are running a free half day training session in Norwich on Wednesday 26th July at the Kings Centre from 2pm to 4.30pm. The training session is open to all practitioners that work with either young parents and homeless young people or those at risk of homelessness. Explore New Ways to Wellbeing with Mind
The ‘Explore – New Ways to Wellbeing’ programme will use arts, nature and sports activities to give young people the opportunity to try something new, make friends and challenge themselves in a safe and supported environment. At the end of the programme each young person will have built their own ‘Wellbeing Toolkit’ designed using the five senses to take away. The Explore programme for ages 16-18 will take place over two weeks Monday to Friday between the 31st July and 11th August 2017. There is also a programme for ages 18 - 25 in September. Read more
