Mental Health, Drugs, Alcohol…

Mental Health, Drugs, Alcohol … Complex needs. Effective responses? This is a free half-day event organised by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation for Trust members and anyone interested in the complex needs and support for people who have mental health problems and use substances. The event will take place on Thursday 2nd March 2017, 12.30 to 4.30pm at the King’s Centre, King Street, Norwich, NR1 1PH.
Conference on Coercive Control

The Law on Domestic Violence has recently changed. This conference on coercive control hopes to raise public awareness, signposting and bring professionals together. The conference is in Bury St Edmunds on 6th March 2017. Key note speaker Dr Lisa Aronson is author of coercive control book 'Invisible Chains: Overcoming Coercive Control in Your intimate Relationship' and a well-known expert on cultural issues in child maltreatment and violence against women.
Breaking the Silence

International Women's day event in NORWICH CATHEDRAL by kind permission of the Dean and Chapter on 8th March 10:30 to 12:30 (entry free). Keynote address from Aneeta Prem: Freedom Charity (who aim to raise awareness and prevent child abuse, especially forced marriage and FGM affecting girls in the UK). Coffee Morning with an opportunity to meet a range of organisations and to pledge to take action to Eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls worldwide.

8th - 13th March 2017
Community Action Norfolk are planning some events to explore how Clinical Commissioning Groups, Norfolk County Council and the Norfolk VCSE sector can work together for improved health of residents and how to reduce the barriers to working together. Dates for your diary are: 8th March for West Norfolk, 10th March for Central Norfolk and 13th March for East Norfolk. More details to follow.
New domestic abuse forum set up in Breckland

Leeway's Breakfast Briefing

Leeway’s Senior Trainer, Helen Burrows is hosting a Breakfast Briefing designed to outline the impact domestic abuse has in the work place and how employers can take responsibility for supporting their staff effectively, especially as domestic abuse is often a hidden crime. It will take place on 15th March, 8-9am in the Conference Room at Virgin Money Lounge 10 Castle Street, Norwich, NR2 1PD. The cost is £12 and includes breakfast.
Local safeguarding conference

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Safeguarding Team are holding a safeguarding conference. Presentations include Human Trafficking, The Magdelene Group, and the Sexual Assault Referral Centre. Plus workshops on Homophobia / Bullying, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty, Child Sexual Abuse & DASH assessment. Cost £35 per head including lunch.
Me & You Education: Two Extremes Ideology Course
27th - 29th March 2017
This free half day training course is organised by the Community Safety Partnership and it aims to educate professionals on preventing radicalisation. The session looks at current recruitment tactics and the role of social media as well as the ideological standpoint of both extremes (ISIS and Far Right). The sessions are delivered jointly by two very different individuals who start from their own divergent points but show that people can and do, work and live together despite their differences.
